President’s comments!
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for their kind comments and the magnificent display of flowers. I love receiving flowers and no-one can fail to be moved by receiving kind, positive remarks about one’s tenure of duty – especially when I was doing a job I enjoyed for an organisation that I love. Sometimes, it is difficult to believe that I manage to fit so many things into my life – Charity Administrator (my ‘real’ job), Soroptimist, lecturer, painter and, of course, my great love, singer! It helps tremendously that I enjoy meeting people from all walks of life and that I never tire of listening to their stories.
But what does being President entail? Well, I think I need to leave that up to you, the Members of the Choir, to decide what you want from YOUR President. I think previous incumbents have brought their own style and personality to the role. I feel that I am an ambassador for the Choir and shall continue to ‘sing our praises’ and advertise us to everyone I can!
What I won’t be is ‘more of the same’ as I can now bow out of the responsibility of running the Choir (although I still have some jobs allotted to me!) and just enjoy singing a bit more. The main responsibilities go to the new Chairman, Mike Bloxham, and his Committee and I wish them well. I am sure you will continue to support them in the way that you have supported previous Committees. It is always exciting to have some changes to which we can look forward.
